Courtney Dowton
My story doesn’t begin with healing.
It begins with survival.
I grew up navigating the instability of foster care—shifting homes, identities, and expectations, all while carrying a heart that felt too big for the world around me. From the very beginning, I was sensitive, intuitive, and deeply aware. I saw what others didn’t. I felt what others ignored. But no one knew what to do with that kind of depth in a child. So I tucked it away and learned to endure.
At 21, I faced one of the most terrifying moments of my life—divorced with a newborn baby in my arms. Alone. Scared. Still carrying the wounds of my past and dealing with immense abuse from my ex husband, I now had a child of my own to protect. But something in me refused to collapse. I put myself through nursing school as a single mom, showing up every day exhausted, determined, and willing to sacrifice everything for a better life.
For years, I lived in survival mode. And while I became a registered nurse and found stability, I never truly felt whole.
Then came a new chapter—a new marriage, three more daughters, and the beginning of an awakening that shattered everything I thought I knew. As a mother of three young children, I found myself face to face with my pain, my power, and my purpose. It didn’t happen overnight, but something sacred cracked open inside me. Slowly I began to embody a new sense of me. One that is whole, sacred, powerful and walks in alignment with the divine.
It was through fifteen years of undiagnosed, excruciating abdominal pain that I discovered what modern medicine couldn’t offer. After being dismissed, misdiagnosed, and exhausted by the system I worked in… I found an herbalist. And for the first time, the medicine worked.
That moment opened a portal—back to my intuition, back to the Earth, and back to the truth I’d been carrying all along:
Healing is natural. Healing is sacred. Healing is possible.
Now, I walk both worlds—the science and the soul.
I honor the wisdom of the body, the energy of the spirit, and the roots of the Earth.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Holistic Health and am currently working toward my Doctorate in Natural Medicine. Every step of this journey—both personal and professional—has deepened my ability to support others in their healing. This isn’t just what I do. It’s who I am.
I created Wholeistic Roots not just as a healing practice, but as a reflection of the path I’ve walked. Every modality I use—whether herbal remedies, muscle testing, energy alignment, or intuitive reflection—comes from lived experience, deep reverence, and a mission to help others remember who they truly are.
I don’t pretend to have all the answers. But I’ve lived through the fire. And now, I hold the flame that can light the way for others.
